About the Subject
Graphic Design and Printmaking falls under the broader category of Visual Communication. This subject encourages learners to explore the use of images and words in designs. Projects given cover a range of themes and develop creative thinking in finding suitable solutions for posters, packaging of all kinds, book/magazine and CD/ vinyl record covers etc.
Part of the fun is the exploration of printing techniques such as mono prints, lino and woodcuts, the etching technique as well as silk-screening and stencilling. Various printing inks are used to print, but media also include pencil and ink drawings, cut-outs and collage.
